Okay app, but low-quality HD

The app is okay even though theres no split screen or pictures-in-picture support on iPad. But the movies have a low-quality HD encoding, probably to keep file size small. Movies seem to be washed out. Subtitles are burned-in and therefor fuzzy. Movie selection is interesting. They may not be the best movies overall but there are many movies which are worthwhile to watch. The movies are well worth the price, but video and subtitle quality is lacking. Wont continue subscribing.

A disgrace! No Fullscreen Display on TV

The MUBI app on iPad does not support fullscreen display on a TV. That means that if you connect your iPad to an HDTV with an official Apple HDMI adapter, youll see images cropped left and right, up and down. Its like letterboxing on steroids! A disgrace. Whats the point of watching an arthouse film on an iPhone?

Works as intended

Functions.

Great Movies, Crashing App

Love the Mubi service and picks, but the app crashes on load **every time**. Useless on my iPhone until this bug is fixed.

Very minimalist

Thanks to the small selection of films the layout of the app is kept very clean and simple which is nice and attractive. Of course then that leads to the negative which is that there is little content to choose from. Wouldnt be so bad, but unfortunately most of what is there is fit only for bad movie nights which makes me feel that the subscription price is too high for what it is. Criterion Collection these films are not. The app does support airplay, but unfortunately you can only view the movies in full screen. So dont expect to minimize the movie so you can multitask. Its a common feature and very disappointing that it is not included. I see there is an option to download. I havent used this yet, but very cool that it is an option.

Best movie app

My first two movies were better than everything Ive seen in TV and Netflix the whole year.

One Major Issue Only

The biggest gripe that bogs down the experience is that movies arent played by default in Landscape mode. Instead you have to disable rotation every single time and shift it. Other than that its a great app there used to be an issue where upon deleting a downloaded film the app still takes up that amount of space but it seems to be fixed. Overall its a great service that lost me because of that gripe, I jumped back on board due to a good yearly deal. Just please add an option to have Landscape as a default.

Great App

You wont get the huge catalogue of Netflix or Amazon, but youll find classic movies, weird movies, and usually very good movies. Ive had it for about three or four months now and I have very few complaints.

A+ !

MUBI is, simply put, a film buffs paradise. A new film each day, but with only 30 days to view it, gives each title room to stand out instead of being lost in a sea of scrolls. And the selections are top notch. You wont find Disney or Michael Myers here. Youll find excellent films that you might not get to see anywhere else.

Finding depth

We often watch events like or similar to super hero or accidents or sensational dramas because of their flighty sense of entertainment. But we learn or squire nothing in this process. What happens when we are presented with actual stories and character development? Mubi is really a reintroduction to why I love movies and films. Its not about streaming but the mindfulness of actually watching a movie or film.

The future is curation

And MUBI is ahead of the curve. Low price + amazing experience = necessity for movie lovers. Marvelous selections.

Film buddy

MUBI is that friend who says "Hey, you gotta see this film I just watched, it was amazing". And then goes a step further and hands it to you. Everyday. Exquisitely curated selections delivered to you via a rock solid, easily navigated app. What more could you want? Popcorn?

Fantastic site and curation, slightly flawed app

I love MUBI and the price for a membership is a ridiculous deal given the content selection and the quality of upkeep. Love the community reviews and the write ups and presentation from the MUBI team! So far my experience with MUBI and Chromecast from my iPhone are generally good, but sometimes while a film is playing, it gets lost from the "Now Playing" bar at the bottom of the MUBI app. When this happens there is no way to get in and rewind, pause, etc. Ive had to disconnect from the Chromecast and re-connect the film to cast. Its a slight inconvenience. The bar at the bottom would be more useful also if it had the Play/Pause button directly on it. I also think it would be great to add the favoriting buttons back. I dont know if I just cant find them, but they seem to have disappeared since their last redesign. Other than that, the mobile app is very well designed.

Great Film curation

The best film curation streaming service. Amazing content and fantastic app

Great

I couldnt fin Lav Diaz films anywhere until I learned about Mubi! This is great stuff for a low price

Well curated for the adventurous cinephile

See above. Five stars! Resist Trump!

Great app, brilliant service

Im a compulsive film watcher and sometimes forget about this terrific service, which provides users with 30 unique films each month: every day a new film is added and then removed 30 days later. The selection is both diverse and absolutely top notch, and includes a mix of overlooked indie gems as well as artistically and historically important films from every era. The apps UI works seamlessly and the product is beyond reproach. This reasonably priced service is a must-have for the film lover. It consistently blows me away.

A Great Companion to an Essential Service

This app presents gorgeously a sterling, revolving, indispensable curated film collection. Thanks to the very welcome Download and ApplePlay features, I can watch these utterly rare gems anywhere, and for that, I am grateful.

What a treat! Great Service!! Good show!!!

It has been years since Berkeleys UC Theatre stopped showing films. Mubi is the next best thing. Thank you for repairing the hole in my heart, Mubi. Good show.
